Aerial View from Chartist house.

This is an aerial View from Chartist House looking over towards Bayleyfield Mill or Ashton Brothers as it is more commonly known...I think it's circa 1994. It shows just how huge the site was! Such a shame when you see how much has now been demolished to make way for housing.

When I was working at 'Lowrys' I used to look at the mill lit up as the sun was going down.. all the windows turning orange/red as the sun set... it really was a stunning view.. seen from the bottom of Park Road it was a site never to be forgotten..... the song Dirty Old Town came to mind..

What a great photo. I didn't realise A.B.'s was so vast. My sister got married in Sept 77 and I bought her a set of sheets from their seconds shop, she was still using them 20 years later:) Superb quality. Can I ask what Lowrys was Tom as it doesn't ring a bell with me?

Hi Manchester.... ;o)
Lowry's was a night club... it was in the building that was Hyde Reform Club... you can see it bottom left of the picture... brickwork and white rendering building.. I worked on the door there for around 5 years.. it was a fun place that had a bad reputation... and a very sticky beer sodden carpet...

Just looking further into the background. If someone re-took that picture today you'ed think, "Bugger me - Ashtons got an Ikea!"
