INFORMATION AS NOW COME TO LIGHT THAT THIS BUILDING WAS ONCE KNOWN AS THE 'RISING SUN' AND NOT AS THE HORSE SHOE AS THE POST STARTED OFF AS. WE WILL DO ANOTHER POSTING SOON WITH A BIT MORE INFORMATION.
THANK YOU ALL WHO HELPED TO SOLVE THIS MYSTERY, NONE MORE SO THAN GILL, THE PRESENT OWNER OF THE HOUSE, AND PAUL TAYLOR AUTHOR OF 'A HISTORY OF THE PUBS OF HYDE AND DISTRICT'
This rather splendid photo is of the Horseshoe pub on Chainbar Lane in Hattersley.
Sadly now defunct.
Gives you a feel of how Hattersley used to be before the mass building of the estate in the 1960's.
Thanks to Jack and Doreen Morris for sharing this photo.
Dave went out looking today to see if he could spot where the Horses Shoe might have been... and was more than pleased to see it is still standing and put to good use. The owner pulled up while Dave was there and confirmed it had been the Horse Shoe at one time... I think this is another great post from Nancy, and again Dave and his detective work and camera as come in very handy... Tom
