Swan Welding.

I came across this on Ebay yesterday. It is an old letter sent by by Swan Welding Company who used to stand on Crook Street.
If anyone knows the exact site of the business, please let us know so we can pinpoint it on the map .
 Thank you.

Interesting piece of paper but I wouldn't pay money for it - I long ago put hundreds of similar things in the bin.

One of the many places that my father worked.

Where abouts was it, Marjorie?
Was it on what is now Iceland side of the road or near where the "Tin Mission stood" ?

I have no idea where it was. He worked there for a short time sometime after 1958, a time when he changed jobs frequently, and by that time I had left the area.

Don't remember Swan Welding, but what I do remember from the late 50's / early 60's is my grandparents coal yard ( Nos 10 & 12 Crook Street ) where the new Methodist church is now, the tin mission next to it, Andrews plumbers on the corner of Reynold / Crook Streets, the 'Brickies Arms' opposite corner, the Ritz cinema car park exit next to the 'Brickies'. I also think I remember there being a timber yard on the ( Mottram Road ) corner of Crook & Union Streets, opposite the 'baths' in which was a large fire, but nothing else on that side of Crook Street. I can't remember what was between the tin mission and Union Street on that side of Crook Street. Hope this may narrow down the location of 'Swan Welding' which could have been in this area.
