A Cotton Queen visits...

Frances Burgess (nee Lockett) was Hydes first Cotton Queen, chosen and crowned in 1930.

Frances lockets original cotton queen dress is on display at portland basin museum Ashton,It was a big deal to be made cotton queen for the year,she was only 19 at the time and later married a local policeman...
