His family worship at St Mary's and Harvey left money in his will to the church. When ever I take a walk around the church I head to his grave... as I know others do.Tomhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04167792394551286975noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8599481671908734427.post-72055270491063565842011-09-04T14:33:13.075+01:002011-09-04T14:33:13.075+01:00Barry Lewis here again. I was waiting for the Miunister to arrive so my wife and I walked through the graveyard. In a back field I saw a lonely grave in the far corner that was surrounded by flowers and toys and appeared quite new so I wandered accross and was saddened to find the grave of a young Hyde soldier recently killed in the Middle east and a cross with the name 'Holmesy' enscribed thereon. It deeply saddeened me that a man so young was taken in this war. Thanks for giving me a face to this brave young man, pictured on the right of this page. Vale Corporal Holmes, you have done your duty.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8599481671908734427.post-25868403215919443592011-08-19T12:40:38.917+01:002011-08-19T12:40:38.917+01:00Thanks to you ,Barry for writing it!

Tom. you are correct, my poem is based on memories of Hyde in the 50s and 60s.
