He cooked, she served, both in immaculate whites. We used to drop our used newspapers off every week before we called it "recycling". The middle shop was Broadbent's - bread, biscuits, packets of tea etc. The bread was wrapped in white tissue paper for you, the biscuits were loose in big tins.
