I'm with you on this... the artist obvi...Hi Jay
I'm with you on this... the artist obviously as talent... many street artists now offer their services and some make a good living out of it... but they must have started off somewhere, running the risk of prosecution. It is certainly a double edge sword.. the artist need to get their work seen, and build up a reputation. Yet because of where their work is done a crime is committed. They work only becomes 'legal' with fame, when walls and such like are made available. Graffiti is a recognise art-form and rightly so... but the fact it is graffiti means it will always be looked down upon.
Thanks for commenting Jay... maybe a request to Tameside Council or New Charter Housing for a suitable 'wall' or area would bring results. Manchester have at least one I know of, where artist can work without fear of arrest or prosecution. Broken, no smashed wine bottles, beer cans, used condoms, burnt out wheelie bins, stolen and burnt out cars, cycles and anything else the vandals care to do. endangering dogs, horses, children walkers cyclists and wildlife. the pity of it is that the artist or vandal as your bloggers care to call them, would love to have use of a studio etc.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14072552985277833957noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8599481671908734427.post-69161679873577302502012-10-27T23:04:01.462+01:002012-10-27T23:04:01.462+01:00This comment has been removed by the author.JohnThttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07418988711175328486noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8599481671908734427.post-70726909771500506802012-10-27T23:03:21.704+01:002012-10-27T23:03:21.704+01:00Graffiti, not artwork, is still wanton damage. As for scarring anything this is on a ruin surrounded by trees on the trail that used to be the old railway line so will only be seen by walkers and horse riders so its not in you face and is not hurting anyone. I would rather see this for free than some of the rubbish that is in art galleries these days, not to mention some of the sculptures that are put up around the counrty and you try to guess what they depict.ceeceehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02612964626349282672noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8599481671908734427.post-5855453966077485472012-10-27T11:08:10.425+01:002012-10-27T11:08:10.425+01:00I go along with Barry's 'marred and scarre...I go along with Barry's 'marred and scarred', and it's really wanton vandalism, but it's a bit like gardeners say: 'a weed is a plant that grows where you don't want it to grow'. As far as art's concerned it's better than the rubbish which Damien Hirst and the likes con the gullible 'art' collectors into paying vast amounts of money for.Dave Williamsnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8599481671908734427.post-41222430437251902542012-10-27T10:54:48.090+01:002012-10-27T10:54:48.090+01:00I knew 'ARTWORK' would get a response Barr...I knew 'ARTWORK' would get a response Barry, I think Graffiti is a bit like Marmite...
I think in the right places it should be encourage.. Manchester as walks you can do which lead you past certain works... of course some will call certain artwork on walls as Murals... but to me it is still Graffiti. I used to love locking them up in my previous life. I hate Graffiti. Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
