The old map shows Kirkley house to be roughly where Higher Henry Street is today. It was very large, back from the road and in it's own grounds. As I mentioned in my previous post on the 1898 map, the house had gone.Jenny Robertshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11377420790676585261noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8599481671908734427.post-64442011616266195152013-02-08T13:17:17.263+00:002013-02-08T13:17:17.263+00:00There's also a shot of it on Gerald's Hyde...There's also a shot of it on Gerald's Hyde Daily Photo.Susan Jaleelnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8599481671908734427.post-90671721667367839142013-02-07T19:09:54.241+00:002013-02-07T19:09:54.241+00:00Hi there,

The map shows a drive through the grounds coming off Tower Street. On the 1898 map, the house has gone.Jenny Robertshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11377420790676585261noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8599481671908734427.post-69272596525862800492013-02-01T15:26:57.868+00:002013-02-01T15:26:57.868+00:00Actually at one time you could walk down Kirkley S...Actually at one time you could walk down Kirkley Street past Kirkley House and on through Norwood's wood yard (where the garage is now) and on to Church View. So the house was in fact only a couple of minute's walk away from St Georges. It's now been blocked off by the garage, although if you walk behind the Shell Station you still get onto Church View.Bill Lancashirenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8599481671908734427.post-15239423430578579142013-02-01T13:27:34.172+00:002013-02-01T13:27:34.172+00:00It still stands on Kirkley Street on the right on ...It still stands on Kirkley Street on the right on the way down to McKenzies GarageAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8599481671908734427.post-51318832268397111442013-01-31T21:33:43.480+00:002013-01-31T21:33:43.480+00:00It was possibly where these bungalows now are.It was possibly where these bungalows now are.Gerald (SK14)https://www.blogger.com/profile/18308693910074268386noreply@blogger.com
