Manchester Road

Photobucket

The approach to Hyde taken from the Borough Boundary on Broomstair bridge in the 1950's. The old trolley bus wires can be seen and a lad with his delivery bike.
Paul Taylor

This week the team were given a Photo CD containing "A Pictorial History Of Old Hyde", along with the disk comes a booklet, both of which produced By Paul Taylor. I on behalf of the team and all our readers would just like to say a big thank you to for this gift... it will be a asset to us here and I'm sure will be well used.

  5. The River Tame at this point of Manchester Road also marked the pre-1974 County boundary. The first sign on the left of the picture said Municipal Borough of Hyde Cheshire and the second one said, simply, Cheshire. The accent changed here too - those living on the Denton side spoke with a definite Manc and Hyde, well Hyde is Hyde!
