It says very faintly on the bottom left that this is 'Mottram Road'... I'm struggling to place this but I know you will soon put me right.

  1. I can't place it either,Tom?
Is it Mottram Road Hyde? Might be Stalybridge.

  3. It looks familiar, but I can't seem to work it out where it is. Perhaps it is Stalybridge, but would need someone to drive down and try and spot the same view.

  6. Excellent ... me and Jane had on on Google Maps... started at Mottram Road, in Staly.. up to the roundabout at Hattersley over to Mottram Road Gee Cross.. cut down onto Lumb lane turned toward Godley and came to the same conclusions... the walls at the front of the houses, the way the lintels have decorative egdes, and if you notice in the old picture the upstairs window cills seem to zig zag... wellthats because of the slight rise of each house.. you can tell better from the street view... if you do go and look that row of houses have a stone name plaque with a date on... I can't make it out... but did give a wave to the old lady looking out of her window... Well done Dunc my old mate... :O)
