We recently received these stunning photographs from Peter Fallon.
Peter bought the Ritz building for redevelopment for the Boston Motor Company in 1981 and had these excellent aeriel views photos done - before and after shots if you like....
The Ritz in all it's splendour!
See Hyde Lads Club to the right of the photo.

Bingo at the Ritz !
The Ritz interior, before demolition.
Thanks Peter ,we are very grateful to you for allowing us to show these photos.
Hi! That building changed a lot! :-)
ReplyDeleteexcellent pictures of the ritz its a shame such a lovely building was demolished but unfortunatly when the building was up for sale ABC still owned the building and a clause in the sale stated that it wasnt to be used for entertainment thats because they still owned the tameside hippodrome former ABC ashton at the time
ReplyDeleteI wonder what the timescale is between the 1st and 2nd photographs. On the first one the Methodist Church at Norfolk Street can be seen, but on the 2nd the building in its place is Hyde Central Methodist Church, built on the same Norfolk Street site as its predecessor.
ReplyDeleteThe Central Methodist Building and the Norfolk Street Methodist are on both photos. The Central Methodist is hiding behind the Ritz - You can just see it peeping out. The extension to the Central Methodist was built a few years later on the Norfolk Street site. :)
ReplyDeleteI can see it now! Thanks for this. These arial photos are brilliant.
