The following was given to me by my brother, Graeme, who is a lifelong Stockport County fan. (I bet he wasn't impressed with the score)!

£100 bingo prize - by eck! - interesting the 3/- entrance fee - it says that on top of the old turnstiles on Tinkers Passage.
ReplyDeleteFor any youngsters (ie under 40's) reading this 3/-, or 3 shillings, is now worth 15 pence. To put it in context, I've still got the ticket stub for the World Cup Final game won by England at Wembley just over 12 months prior to this Hyde game, and it shows the admission price was 10 shillings, or 50 pence.

ReplyDeleteSlater of Hyde seem to think that 'Refractory Brickwork Specialists' is worthy of an exclamation mark. What exactly are 'Refractory Brickwork Specialists'?
ReplyDeleteTwo of my favourite places on the same day - Hyde United/FC and the Folk Club. I saw some great singers there and met some super people.
