Such a fabulous building.
ReplyDeleteand to think we almost lost the library a few years ago !
Thanks Dave, great photos as ever !
What a fine building this is and expertly depicted here in Dave's amazing photos. I love the Hyde crest with its Onward insignia - a perpetual reminder of the town's proud independent status long before some idiot drew a line on a map which encompassed 9 unlikely towns, later to be robbed of their identity and laid in a heap under a geographical umbrella known as Tameside. I don't recall a referendum on this but I should like to bet that the men in suits called it progress. Onward, Hyde, Onward.
ReplyDeleteAs of July 2015, what is planned for the empty former library building?
