"Flannagans" or "Flanagans" ?

Photobucket

Dave noticed this a while back and was reminded of it when Nancy did a post last week on Adverts from 1968.. one of the adverts was for 'The Moulders Arms' which this pub used to be called.
The Moulders dated back to the 1860's.

Dave has a great knack for noticing such things and I hope he shares others with us.

  1. A great pub for a game of cards or domino's in the 60's and 70's. Good pint of Tetley's if I remember correctly. I assume the Moulders name came from the hatting trade.

  2. In his book A History of the Pubs of Hyde & District, Paul Taylor says that the name is most probably derived from Benjamin Goodfellow's Hyde Iron Works, which was situated nearby, or from the brickfields around that area, where the workers would mould clay into bricks.
