St Marys School

Here is a photo of St Marys School in Newton, taken around 1923.
It was sent to us by Colin Critchlow.

I like the way the teacher is keeping her beady eye on the class :)

Many thanks Colin. Much appreciated. :)

  1. Barry in Oz here, it's funny that I can look at some of the faces on this photo and see a few kids that I went to school with 30 years later, the family resemblances are amazing. Looking at the date I can also visualise my Uncle Jim serving in the Chippy 75 metres from that very scene at that particular time.

  2. Hi Barry, yes, it's funny that, isn't it. I can see family resemblances from the Leigh Street School photos, where our family members went. Some families haven't changed at all through the years!
