I don't recall it either, but then I didn't live in what later became known as the Tameside area at that time. I did work for BT though, and if memory serves me right, there was an attempt from various quarters to rival the monopoly of the Thomson Yellow Pages local business telephone directory at around that time.
I've never heard of this either but it's interesting that Hyde, Denton and Ashton were grouped together long before the boundary reshuffle of 1974. I'd have thought it would have made more sense to keep Cheshire towns in a group. Still, it's all history now!
