This is a photograph I took probably in the early 1980's on Werneth Low looking over Hattersley and the old tower blocks with Mottram Church towards the right-hand side. That's Beryl in the foreground, and I think it's Hobson Moor in the background.

ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry for you, Codfish. There's a big beautiful world beyond Hattersley and it starts on Werneth Low - that's the green hill to the west of you by the way. Why not have a walk up there this morning and stand by the cenotaph, taking in the whole of Greater Manchester which is spread out before you, and then sa it's boring.

ReplyDeleteI was tempted to go up Matley Lane today but alas only managed to get to the Clarence pub, before I needed to stop, take my GTN spray.. I ended up coming back and I've felt shattered since.. more the effect of the cold air I think. Maybe tomorrow.

ReplyDeletehello everyone! love your blog. i check it out everyday from sunny bolton. ha! ha! when we visit hyde there's nothing better than standing on werneth low - you can see for miles around. you can easily see rivington pike not far from us to the north-west. that view is stunning as the sun sets. you also get a brilliant view of the planes going to manchester airport. see you soon tom & jane / john & josh bye xxxx
