I just love this picture, which takes me back over 50 years at least. It reminds me of walks along the cut side, sometimes being treated to entertainment by lads who, for some odd reason, got pleasure out of trying to jump the width of the bank and ending up in the water, and all the detritus that it contained.
Being down there though held for me something far more interesting than the canal - the railway line. How easy it was to get onto it and how exciting to see a steam loco at such close quarters and to count the wagons of course. Strange thing is, I never remember being told off for being there.
