I also have this postcard, but it's in colour. I think it's one of the few shots pre-cenotaph. The row of houses on Mottram Old Road hasn't changed much over the years. I tried to recapture the view a year or two ago by standing on what was then spare ground at the junction of Grange Road South and Allen Avenue but, alas, the foreground was ruined by the new school!j
ReplyDeleteI too have this picture on a postcard that I acquired from ebay a few weeks ago, the card having been posted from Hyde in Sept 1913 to a Miss Jessie Wilde at the Royal Infirmary, Manchester.
