  1. Walked up & down this road plenty of times as a lad. From Hyde to the oaklands.

    There used to be a pub on the left, going up, I think it was called the "Barrington" unless my memory fails me. I also remember there were a few "listed" houses on that road. Happy to note some things remain as nice as they used to.

    I was disgusted to learn that they took the lovely old wrought iron bus stops from Hyde market and melted them down. Are they totally insane on that council?

    A lovely old building with a turret? If so, this is now flats or apartments. :(

  4. Nobody has mentioned 'Sober Row'. That long terrace of houses with the built in plaque that says something like ... "Be industrious, be sober" I think the correct name for the row of houses is 'Temperance Terrace'.

    No doubt someone can confirm or correct this.
