Brookfold is an area that as almost been forgotten and looks much the same today. It is a perfect place for a Sunday stroll. Any information of this area would be of interest to use... and please feel free to send in your pictures so we can add to the post.

That second photo is looking over Station Road towards Swindells Fold and Beech Cottage. I took a similar photo in March and have just posted it together with another of Swindells Fold taken in April on Hyde DP Xtra.

There used to be a railway from Godley past Grange Road and the Clarkes Arms, and behind Knott Lane to Apethorn where it joined the Hyde Central to Woodley Line

The sidings and turntable at the Godley end of the line were controlled by a signalbox called Brookfold on the embankment immediately east of the bridge just beyond Swindells Fold

The signalbox nameboard returned to Hyde today

No.6.... I know that line very well... I have to ask about the last bit "The Signal Box nameboard returned to Hyde today" ... this sounds very interesting.. if there is a photo to go with this story it would make a great posting here.
