The Methodist New Connexion Chapel was situated on Muslin Street (now known as Talbot Road) in Newton. It was originally known as the Muslin Street Methodist. The original chapel was built in 1815, but due to disrepair it was demolished and the building in the photo was and opened in 1884. In 1907 the church joined with the United Methodist Free Church and formed the United Methodist Church.

Whereabouts on Muslin Street/Talbot Road was it?
I think the building to the left is St Mary's school building across from where the shops are now on Talbot Road..
The building was directly opposite the Conservative club on Talbot Rd, just up from the shops. St Mary's school was on the corner, then there was a small private house and then the building. Due to overcrowding at St Mary's school in the 50s a rear room of this building was used as a classroom. t was large, musty but had the advantage that the class rooms in St Mary's didn't have, it had an open fire. I spent my last 12 months in this classroom with Mr Jones as the Teacher. Tom, I will send you a photo taken in 2010 to show you where it was. Barry Lewis in Oz.
