The Grapes Hotel

Photobucket

A view of the Grapes from the end of the 1980's.
It is easy to forget that what is now the restaurant, used to be the stables !.

I must admit I quite liked the look of it back then.... even though I was barred. :)

I remember the Whitsun service held there in front of The Grapes, with Holy Trinity church,
Joel Lane Methodists and Hyde Chapel who had the Tideswell Silver Prize Band. We had the joint sing and then all went our separate ways with our banners to sing at special places. We- Hyde Chapel went to Bowlacre House, then Pole Bank Hall then back to Sunday school for tea and currant buns.Sports on the top field in the afternoon and a dance at night.Happy days!
