Barry in Oz here. Top photo, house on immediate right was where Mr J Brooks lived. Mr Brooks was a member of the World Champions Hyde Seal in the early 1900s. He was an old friend of my Grandad who walked down from his Chippy in Talbot Rd with me to visit him every Friday.

Hi Barry
My mate Jack Cheetham used to live on 'Back Hamel Street'..
outside in an out building a chap used to make toffee on a slab of marble, Jack recalls him working the toffee on a hook above the marble.

Hi Tom,
your dad's cousin, Albert Wigley,(my uncle) lived in one of the flats on Hamel street, near where the silver car is parked on pic 2 until he passed away in 1991. The state of the road surface is terrible in the old photos !
Best Regards,
Dave Hamilton.
