Aerial map of James North and area

We received this message and photo from Brian H  via email today
Over to Brian...
"I have just come across this photo which may be of interest.
In the early 1990's a guy spent a couple of days flying around in a light aircraft taking aerial photos of the town
We bought this picture from him and put it in a 'safe place' ,so safe in fact, we forgot that we had it. What a pleasure it was to find it again earlier today.
Of particular interest are Bell's on Dowson Rd and, of course, the James North premises.
Hope you like it... keep up the good work with the website..."

hello - eileen from bolton here,
wow what a brilliant photo! it fits in perfectly with yesterdays article and also geralds recent blog about garside street. the photo shows big changes from when i was a child/teenager traveling through the area everyday in the 60's - 70'. it also shows how the area as changed again over the last 20 years.
it makes you wonder how things may change again over the NEXT 20years. i hope the gower hey wood areas and the trans pennine trail don't change though. with all the terraced houses in the area they're a much needed "green lung" for local people.

This photo shows how much Hyde has changed for the better in terms of replacing industrial grounds into greener residential spaces. I bet the picture would be a lot greener today! (well perhaps in the spring!)

I've got a large photo of the aerial view over Werneth Avenue - the pilot I think went door-to-door selling them - had it on the wall for some time but the frame got broke - still have stored away somewhere - it's too large to scan.

I remember buying my first car from "Perrys", I'm sure thats what it was called back then in '89? before it was "Bells", it was a vauxhall nova with a push button radio and no wing mirror on the left hand side!!! D839 RBV was the reg!!!
