Mystery photo solved !

Below is a postcard of a group of men outside a Hyde public house which has baffled me for months. I have trawled through countless photos looking for clues of where it could have been taken.  I have had success at last - and it is all because of a photo that was on the blog on Saturday concerning the French Swimming Team  that was lent to us by Fred Booth. It is a photo of the Cheshire Cheese on Market Street in Hyde !

Below is a close up of the pub door on Freds Photograph....

Maybe the men on the photo are the French swimming team?
Whoever they are I am just pleased to have cleared up a mystery after all these months !

Thanks Fred  :)

Well spotted Nancy...
It looked a stunning building with the tile-work and stained glass, it's no wonder we didn't recognise it as the Cheshire Cheese..
Whoever was responsible for the frontage that 'we' grew up with should have been hung from the Town Hall flag pole..

Well spotted indeed !
I would never have said that the Cheshire Cheese once looked like that. I love the old tiled fronted pubs... doesnt seem many left, which is sad.
