Walked up & down this road plenty of times as a lad. From Hyde to the oaklands.

There used to be a pub on the left, going up, I think it was called the "Barrington" unless my memory fails me. I also remember there were a few "listed" houses on that road. Happy to note some things remain as nice as they used to.

I was disgusted to learn that they took the lovely old wrought iron bus stops from Hyde market and melted them down. Are they totally insane on that council?

Do you mean the Bankfield,John ?
A lovely old building with a turret? If so, this is now flats or apartments. :(

Nobody has mentioned 'Sober Row'. That long terrace of houses with the built in plaque that says something like ... "Be industrious, be sober" I think the correct name for the row of houses is 'Temperance Terrace'.

No doubt someone can confirm or correct this.
