Joseph Adamsons

Here is a nice old photo showing one of Joseph Adamsons trucks.

I don't know anything about cars or vehicles so I can't date it- sorry.

Hopefully, Dave will be able to help us !

Joseph Adamsons was, at one time, known all over the world for their engineering skills and products. Boiler making was just one of their products.

Isn't this handsome? I don't know a great deal about commercial vehicles either but, from its nose, it looks as though it may have been from the Rootes Group collection - Karrier, Hillman etc. The registration plate, ABU 278, would seem to pre-date 1963 when the formation was changed to include a single letter suffix, eg. ABC 123A, B, C etc with each passing year. The ABU denotes an Oldham registration.

Come on, vehicle enthusiasts, put me right!!

Brilliant detective work, David. Thanks for keeping us right.

surely the quality of the photo suggests its a vehicle in preservation rather than a working vehicle in its time
