Harry Rutherford's Festival of Britain Mural
absolutely beautiful images.Love what you've done with them, they look like aquatints and etchings.Very atmospheric and very much Old Hyde!!!(and this coming from someone who has done etching...)cheers for posting these mate, they've made my day,and I suspect ex-pats will be crying while looking at them!John Booth
Great to see another interesting post from you Tom, I hope this is an indication of improving health for you.
Great images Tom, don't know where you've found some of them.Council employee who named Garden Street had a twisted sense of humour!
I dont understand the title - how are the images altered? I find them very atmospheric and like them.
The photo titled "Cobbled Street", do we know what the actual name of this street? It reminds me very much of how Brook Street looked in the very early 70's.
Love these Tom. Thank you.
The smoke from the chimneys should rule out 1970,s (clean air act) ,so earlier than that.My guess would be Cheapside for the street.
The picture titled Garden Street is the junction of Garden Street and Hallbottom Lane.I lived 4th house up Hallbottom Lane. The photo must be after 1953 as the windows before that were sash.Keith Mellor
