Hyde Name Origins.

The name "HYDE" is derived from the hide, a measure of land for taxation purposes, taken to be that area of land necessary to support a peasant family. In later times it was taken to be equivalent to 120 acres .

Rosemount Chapel Interior

Here is a lovely postcard sent to us by Werneth Low.
It shows the interior of Rosemount Chapel in Flowery Field.
It was quite similar to the old Zion Congregational interior.

I was christened in this chapel :)

Many thanks for the loan of the postcard.
Much appreciated.

Lovely to see the inside of Rosemount Chapel again. I first went to Rosemount with my brothers about 72 years ago, and had almost forgotten what the old Chapel looked like! The 2 chairs either side of the alter table were saved when the Chapel was demolished, and are still in what is now Rosemount Trinity Methodist Church (the old Sunday School, extended ). We still go to the Sunday services when we are over from Spain in August. Many thanks to the contributor. Brian Hodkinson.
