Hyde Name Origins.

The name "HYDE" is derived from the hide, a measure of land for taxation purposes, taken to be that area of land necessary to support a peasant family. In later times it was taken to be equivalent to 120 acres .

Simply awesome, thank you Tom.

I know a lot of people who work and have worked at Walls' over the years, my mother was there for 30 years.

I can't wait to show them these photos.

I've really enjoyed looking over these aerial photos of the old Walls', and I think it's an interesting fact that not a single brick of the 'old' factory, that we see in these photos, still stands today.

The current 'new' factory is situated where the field is (first picture, top left quarter).
I believe expansion of the factory began in the 1950's through to the 1960's.
