Goodier House (2)

This week we received this email.
I wonder if anyone can help?

"I AM CURENTLY DOING MY FAMILY TREE OF THE TURNER`S WHO WERE MY GREAT GRAND PARENTS AND LIVED IN HYDE .
THEY CAME FROM SOUTH YORKSHIRE AREA THEN MOVED TO HYDE IN THE 1840s.
I CAME ACROSS YOUR FANSTATIC WEBSITE. SHOWING A PHOTO OF GOODIER HOUSE.
MY FATHER HARRY TURNER WAS BORN AT 6 GOODIER FOLD ON THE 27th OCTOBER 1910
I HAVE HIS BIRTH CERTIFICATE WHICH COULD BE PUT ON YOUR WEBSITE.
MY GRAND FATHER: WAS JOHN THOMAS TURNER, HIS WIFE SARAH E TURNER.
I WONDER IF THERE IS ANY CONNECTION WITH HENRY GOODIER TURNER?
I WOULD BE VERY GRATEFUL FOR ANY INFORMATION IN REGARDS TO THE TURNERS.
THANK YOU,
DESMOND C TURNER."

Barry on Oz here. Desmond, as you probably know, I was born at Goodier house in 1946, sorry to say I have no knowledge of the Turner family. Are you sure that your Father was born in Goodier Fold in 1910 ? I thought Goodier fold was named after Goodier House was demolished in the 50s and new houses built on the site. I could be wrong of course.

Mr.Turner, Harry Turner was indeed born at 6 Goodier Fold in October 1910. He was the son of John Thomas Turner and Sarah E Turner formerly Pigot or Pigott.Goodier Fold was a row of four stone cottages standing very near to Goodier House, then occupied by Hyde's Chief Constable, John Danby. The other three occupants of the cottages in Goodier Fold in 1910 were: Mr.E.Whyatt no. 2, Mrs.Sarah Vernon no. 10, and William Bradburn no.8. No.6 Goodier View was later occupied by Joseph Burnard. The Turner family of Goodier Fold were no relation whatsoever to Henry Goodier Turner.

This is in reply to all 3 of the comments. I also am tracing my family history and the family name is Turner and some I believe still live in Hyde, although my great grandfather moved into Lancashire many years ago. They originally came from Yorkshire and moved to Hyde at the same time - 1840's, as you are saying. It is possible we are tracing the same people. If you would like to discuss further I would be grateful of an email address so I can contact you personally. It sounds as though 2 of you maybe able to help me with information as well.

This message is for the anonymous of the 6th June. I replied by saying I had contacted Demond Turner and we found that we were tracing the same family. I am wondering if you may be related to me as well. I am Amos Turner's great grandaughter and Amos was born in Hyde about 1850. He moved out of Hyde and therefore I do not live in Hyde but would be grateful of any information concerning my relatives that remained living in Hyde. If you would like to contact me please leave a message on the blog and then I will supply an email adress to contact you further. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
