St George's School

This is a photo from 1952 (July of that year if the calendar at the back has been kept up-to-date) of part of the class of Yvonne Rowbottom (nee Bann).


Beryl (first on the left on the front row) says that the names of the pupils are as follows:
Back row: Roger Scott, Frank Brierley, Alex Dunlop, ?, Noel Senior, John Harrison.
Middle row: Janet Smith, Valerie Hall, Michael Garner, Geoffrey Woods, Harold ?.
Front row: Beryl Dilkes, Rita Carradice, Hilary Shaw, Jacqueline Capper, Philip Ashley, Bobby Cullen.

Barry in Oz, wasn't Noel Senior the local Boxing champion in the 60s ?

Yes, I seem to remember he did do boxing when he was a bit older.

Hi

What was the name of the pupil who got shot by his brother by mistake in the 1950's. He lived in great Norbury Street and went to St George's primary school.

Nne of the Thompson boys was accidently shot by his brother at their parents allotment off woodend Lane. Nadine Thompson was also at the school.

Michael Thomson, died July 1952, aged 7. Interred at Hyde Cemetery, 1st August 1952.
