Hyde Name Origins.

The name "HYDE" is derived from the hide, a measure of land for taxation purposes, taken to be that area of land necessary to support a peasant family. In later times it was taken to be equivalent to 120 acres .

I hope this doesn't mean the end of it because there must be people out here who would be happy to take it on. Me for one.

My thoughts are with the team too, they do a marvellous job, there must be a fair bit of work involved in getting items ready for the blog, but what ever happens, The Hydonian blog must carry on, it means a lot to us Hydonians and all the expats around the World.
I have recently come across some old cine films that belonged to my dad Len Garbett, I have given them to my eldest daughter and she and her partner are going through the films at the moment, up to now they have found one that was filmed in the 60s and shows Market St and Garbetts shoe shop,I have yet to see the film myself, but they say it is great to see what Hyde looked like back then and to see the old cars, there may be more film on Hyde, when they have gone through all the cine films, I will report back to you Tom. All the best to you and your great team.
