Harrop Edge

A quick post today due to hospital and doctors appointments,

 photo 1-HarropEdge.jpg

I've spent many hours on those hills, Harrop Edge is a fine place to walk around and look back upon Werneth Low. Further on Hobson Moor... what lovely walks to be found around there.

Tom, I know that as an ancient Hydonian I shouldn't need to ask this, but tell me how to get onto Harrop Edge. I have no recollection of having been up there but obviously I must have been. I'll be over to Hyde soon so it would be good to take the camera up there and shoot the Low backwards!

Harrop Edge... top of Matley Lane and turn right just before the lane joins Mottram Road/Roe Cross.. the turns quite sharp.. just follow the road up and there's some rough parking by the quarry.. The view is excellent.

I was so excited to see this photo. I have been looking for a similar one we had but haven't been able to find it. I had a friend who went to live in the big bungalow seen at the bottom left. It is called 'Greenacres'. I suppose it has changed a lot inside in the last fifty odd years, but then to me coming from a two bed terrace it was so big and beautiful. You can't see it from Mottram Old Road as a large wooden gate has been erected and as the trees have grown so much you can't really see it from the Low.

Tom, I'm grateful for that. It's at the top,of my places to see next time I'm over.
