Hydes Town Team.

We recently received this email from Gill Anderton. It is regarding a group who wish to get Hyde Town Centre back to its prosperous days of old.

Over to Gill...

"There is a meeting to be held at Hyde FC Social Club, Walker Lane on Wednesday 22 Aug at 6pm.  They want to set up a Hydes Town Team (as suggested by Mary Portas' Review) to help revive towns like ours who are seeing ever more empty shops, and want to bring back the community into the town centres and help them prosper again.
If you know any business person who would be interested, please let them know.
(See Mary Portas Review on Google).

I agree with you .
Hyde is nothing but takeaways and poundshops at the moment.

Like Beryl, I hope something good comes out of this. We have looked at countless photos of Market Street as it used to be on this blog, and whilst accepting that the past is in the past, it would have been nice if the market regeneration could have taken in the stretch of Market Street from the town hall to Dowson Road. After all, its the main road into Hyde from the south and the condition of some of the shops is embarassing.

Good luck with your campaign.
