Trip To Blackpool

Thank you to Colin Critchlow for sharing this excellent picture of his Nan and Auntie on a day trip to Blackpool with ladies from Talbot Road Chapel in the 1930's

Photobucket

Looks like they were enjoying themselves.

I should think many of us have family photo's like this, and if like Colin you would like to share them please send them in. It is a great way to see how the fashions changed...

What happy looking ladies ! Do pubs still have ladies outing?

I know one or two that still have outings for the ladies. Now-a-days it is more likely to be to the Races for Ladies Day...

Six formidable looking ladies enjoying the Chapel trip. They appear to be happy and friendly enough ... but you wouldn't want to cross any of them would you?

If they say it's raining ... get your brolly up :-)

PS. It can't be Blackpool - it's sunny!

This is a great photo Colin, I really love it. Around what year would it have been taken? The photo would have looked good on the front cover of a Blackpool brochure at the time, because the ladies all looked so happy to be there. Great advert for Blackpool!

The ladies are not in Blackpool but Southport. They are walking along the Esplanade. The lighter building behind the group is the Royal Clifton Hotel on the corner of the Promenade and Coronation Walk.
