Hyde Name Origins.

The name "HYDE" is derived from the hide, a measure of land for taxation purposes, taken to be that area of land necessary to support a peasant family. In later times it was taken to be equivalent to 120 acres .

Back to a time when Hyde was known for it's farming families..

There was another farm in that vicinity where the farm building seems to still exist - Clough Fold farm. I'm just sending an email to Tom, so I'll include a couple of photos of that building which I took in June this year.
