Hyde Name Origins.

The name "HYDE" is derived from the hide, a measure of land for taxation purposes, taken to be that area of land necessary to support a peasant family. In later times it was taken to be equivalent to 120 acres .

St Georges Cub Scouts

4th Hyde Cubs football team. (St Georges)

This picture was sent in by 'Mo', who thinks it would have been taken early 80's so if anybody recognises themselves they could perhaps date it

Can you put names to the faces?

From Roger Thelwell

Top row:
Danny Brocklehurst, Mark Pace (now in Oz), Mark Tyler, Martin Kelly, Gareth Rhodes, XXX, maybe it’s Darren Washington, Peter Hulme
Steven Garret, XXX, Andrew Taylor, XXX, Robert Smith, Stephen Thelwell
It was Steven Garrett’s dad who ran the team.

It’s got to be no later than 1980/1, I think they all went to St. George’s and most lived off/around Dowson Road, Grosvenor & Berkeley Crescent, etc

It was probably taken on Hyde rec.
