A postcard depicting "Promenaders" on Mottram Old Road !
This used to be a popular walk, from Gee Cross to Hattersley...and very picturesque, too !

A lovely picture that reminds us of a gentler, unhurried era when life revolved around simple pleasures. And a time when you could walk in confidence along the middle of Mottram Old Road. Interesting how the photographer has coloured one or two of the ladies' dresses and also the leaves on the trees, but has left the rest of the picture in black and white.
What a gentle picture. The house, Iddesleigh, is still there of couse but what a shame that this road has now become a race track and an accident black spot.
What a lovely postcard this is. Bill is right, it reminds us what a gentler, unhurried era this was. I think if the people in the postcard were to come back for a day to see how life is now, they would be so scared of this noisy mad world, and would feel relieved and glad that they had lived in their gentler time!
