I notice that they have started to build a pond in Gower Hey Woods. This area has been a dark ,unwelcoming part of the woods for many years. It's a great improvement and sterling work by Gower Hey Conservation Group.
I'm looking forward to seeing all the wildlife it attracts !

I was going through Gower Hey Woods on a particularly foul day last November when I came across a couple of men constructing a fence at the side of the path, so I went back a day or two later when the weather had improved and took a couple of photos. I'll send them to you, Nancy.
That reservoir in Gower Hey Woods is shown on the Tithe Maps and also on the last map shown on the post of 26 June 2011 about the arch in the wall of the Diamond Reservoir on Stockport Road.
I've just tried the 'Tithe Maps' link and it doesn't show what I expected, but if you use the '+' and '-' slider at the top and move the map around you should be able to pin-point Gower Hey Woods.
Is it this marshy area I photographed last Spring? http://hydedaily.blogspot.com/2011/05/marsh-in-gower-hey-wood.html
Hi Gerald..
I'd say it's the same place...
It looks like the same spot to me. When you go from King George Road and straight down the path in front of you the pond's to the left as you walk down that path. The gate is just before you get to the little bridge at the bottom.
Hey there, I helped dig this back in September 2011 as a BTCV volunteer. Hard work in a heat wave (phew!). I didn't come across any of the Friends Group but had nice chats with passing dog walkers. Hope the pond is a success
