Hyde Cafe

Photobucket

I've only ever heard of this cafe... I grew up hearing it mentioned in my childhood, so when scanning the pictures that Fred Booth kindly left with me I was more than pleased to see these. I'm hoping our comment section gets a few memories from your memories of this place .. I look forward to reading them.

Great memories. I think that you are telling porkies Tom, i'm sure that's you leaning out of the 1st floor window? I wonder what the shop was between the cafe and the Norfolk Arms, was a carpet shop?

My dad remembers a pawn shop being there at some stage!

Hyde Cafe was No 10 Market Place, Norfolk Arms was No 6. In 1934 No 8 was James Cameron tobacconist. There was a pawnbroker nearby at No 4, but this was in the early 1900's.

Cheers for that Paul.

That was a very big tobacconist! I thought that Keenan's was the local tobacconists near to Clough's!
